40-Hour TDLR-Approved Licensing Course

The Laser Hair Removal Level I Apprentice Course is the first step in the Texas laser hair removal licensing pathway. This TDLR-approved 40-hour hybrid course combines self-paced online education with approximately a half-day of in-person training at La Vida Laser & Aesthetics Institute in Houston.

Students complete the required online curriculum and Level I examination before attending their scheduled in-person training. During the in-person portion, students review key concepts with the instructor.

Three Certifications Included

• TDLR-Required Certificate: 40-Hour Laser Hair Removal Apprentice
• Bloodborne Pathogens Certification
• Laser Safety Officer (LSO) Certification

Upon successful completion of all course requirements, students receive the Level I documentation necessary to proceed with their application to TDLR for a Texas Laser Hair Removal Apprentice license.

Course Structure

Hybrid | Self-Paced Online Theory + Half-Day In-Person Training

This course combines required online education with instructor-led practical training.

Online Portion:
Students complete the required Level I curriculum through the LVLAI Student Portal at their own pace. Online access is available for 12 months and includes narrated video lessons, downloadable course materials, practice quizzes, assessments, and the Level I | 40 Hour examination.

The Level I examination must be successfully completed online before attending the scheduled in-person training.

In-Person Training:
Students attend approximately a half-day of instructor-led Level I training at La Vida Laser & Aesthetics Institute in Houston. The session reinforces the online curriculum through instructor review.

For Students Continuing to Level II:
Students enrolled in the Laser Technician Bundle (Levels I–II) or Laser Professional Bundle (Levels I–IV) may schedule their Level II – 100 Treatment Practicum separately or may have the opportunity to continue into Level II the same day during the afternoon session, depending on availability.

Level II practical training is limited to a maximum of 4 students per session. Same-day Level II placement is not guaranteed and must be confirmed in advance.

Students wishing to continue their licensing progression may advance through:

Level I – Apprentice
40-hour TDLR-approved training

Level II – Technician
100 Treatment Practicum

Level III – Senior
Observation of 100 laser hair removal treatments

Level IV – Professional
Professional examination and applicable licensing requirements

TDLR application and licensing fees are separate from course tuition.

Students are responsible for reviewing and understanding all current TDLR licensing eligibility, application, documentation, and fee requirements prior to enrollment.

Online-Only Option — $750

Available only to qualifying previously licensed/experienced laser professionals who do not require the standard hybrid training format. Eligibility should be confirmed with La Vida before enrolling.
